Perplexed, But Not In Despair

Perplexed, but not in despair – I find these words to be very relatable, especially on days when I feel mentally and spiritually worn out.

2 Corinthians 4:8-9

We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed.

Beginning 2024 with a lot of heavy energy, already. The previous years have absolutely worn me out. In the spirit of detoxing and getting healthy, I have resolved to reflect on the precedent that has been set, by scriptures like this, to see how the authors of these testimonies, coped with the situations they found themselves in.

Often times I do feel hard pressed on every side, perplexed, persecuted and struck down. The part that gives me hope, is the “but”. The silver lining, if you will.

I find that scripture is worth the read, especially when it’s relatable and can be applied in a modern way.

There is an enemy that wants us to forget history. I feel like it is worth while, to learn from history and try to teach others to be victorious, even through the moments of darkness, we must use it as a chance to persevere. We are not alone in our pursuit of happiness. History, proves that.
