If you make the rounds of quality YouTubers, you may have seen Chris Whalen on Styx’s channel or soliciting custom voicemail recordings in lit comment sections. This isn’t a dig – Chris Whalen reminds me of something Abe Lincoln once quipped about Ulysses S. Grant:
“I can’t spare this man. He fights.”
I don’t know Chris beyond our initial few contacts, but my instincts tell me that this is a guy to keep an eye on. Often overlooked in The Great Meme Wars is the notion that there are battles to be fought on every front – and those with expertise in said theaters of war are AWOL having Twitter aneurysms trying to debate shit that doesn’t matter.
Through this lens, one might understand Chris Whalen as something of a “Swamp Fox” Francis Marion – a guerrilla revolutionary planting a flag in his metaphorical home turf.
